Privately-owned Ealing Squash and Fitness is an existing facility with a gym on the ground floor, squash courts on the first floor and residential apartments in the immediate vicinity. The client is undertaking an extensive redevelopment of the site, updating the gymnasium and squash courts, incorporating a new swimming pool, dance school, café and bar, and developing new residential apartments. With the Club remaining open throughout the construction and alteration works, the challenge is to eliminate any risk to the public and deliver without negatively impacting membership numbers.
wep:HSE has been appointed to work closely with all stakeholders and suppliers to reduce costs and speed up construction, while meeting the statutory requirements laid out in the CDM Regulations. In the role of health and safety manager for the principal contractor, wep:HSE is reducing risk and achieving significant savings on consultant costs by bringing all packages under the contractor’s control. wep:HSE is also ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance throughout the planning and construction phases of the project, and leading in the weekly design, coordination and progress meetings.
