APPOINTED PERSON TRAINING CPCS Category Code A61 Who is the course for? This course is administered by the Construction Plant Certification Scheme and is designed for individuals who will be responsible for the planning, organising, monitoring and controlling of lifting operations in the workplace. Course aim and objective The aim and objective of this course is to provide the candidate with the underpinning knowledge, to be able to understand their roles and responsibilities when planning lifting operations, as per current legislation. Course content Legislation British Standards BS7121 Safe Use of Cranes Roles & Responsibilities Duties Charts Site Access & Egress Documentation and certification Crane stability/ ground conditions Selection of lifting accessories Types of lifting accessories Mode factors Sling angles Communications Method statements Risk assessments Certification On successful completion of the course the candidate will be awarded a red CPCS trained operator card endorsed with the category A61 Appointed Person Lifting Operations. This can only be issued if the candidate has an in date Managerial & Professional health & safety test, which has been achieved before undertaking the CPCS technical test.
